Jennifer's Philosophy

Jennifer's passion has always been with movement and creating in the world of dance.  She finds the entire process of choreographing enticing; from the experimentation of ideas, creation of movement, through to seeing the final product in action. She embraces the failures, the redirection, and the successes that come from teaching her work and facilitates the building of this resilience in others. Jennifer hopes to inspire, educate and bring others together by sharing her love of dance.

Beginning her dance journey at age six, Jennifer found dancing provided an excellent mechanism for growing her confidence and motivation and is excited to share this. Dance enabled the creation of friendships, memories and challenges that have shaped who she is today.  It has been Jennifer's life-long dream to open up her own dance establishment and support others to enjoy these experiences.

Jennifer has always believed in the positive impact, strength and power that the arts give individuals in our society. The arts provide the power of a voice, the power of opportunity, and exploration of identity. She hopes through her studio she will be helping to build and influence the creative sector in the greater community.

Jennifer's Professional Bio

Jennifer is a Brisbane- and Ipswich-based dance artist who has been teaching, directing and choreographing in the industry since 2015. She has developed her practice across private studios as a dedicated teaching artist, working extensively with the Comdance tap and jazz syllabi and holding formal teaching certificates in both styles. Jennifer has consistently supported students to achieve strong syllabus results, with 95% of her 2019–2020 exam cohort receiving Honours or Honours Plus.

Jennifer is experienced in choreographing troupe and competition routines across tap, jazz and contemporary styles, working in both private studio and school environments. In 2019, she played a key role in establishing introductory dance troupes for Ipswich schools to support the rapid growth of extra-curricular dance programs.

In 2018, Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor of Creative Industries, majoring in Dance with minors in Entertainment and Entrepreneurship. She went on to work with a multicultural arts organisation focused on regional arts development, where she strengthened her knowledge of arts business, community arts practice and cultural development.

Jennifer’s passion for Pilates and fitness led her to complete formal teacher training in Barre Pilates and Mat Pilates. She integrates these modalities into her teaching, confident in their transformative benefits for strength, alignment and overall wellbeing.

Since 2022, Jennifer has been running her own studio—Move It—delivering inclusive and accessible dance classes to the Ipswich region. Alongside this, she has developed specialised knowledge in early and adolescent development, including enrichment, sensory and movement development. She has developed and curated the studio’s popular Mini Movers program for ages 18 months to 3 years, which focuses on building fundamental movement and gross motor skills, introducing early dance techniques, and nurturing rhythm and musicality. She has also written and designed a “Baby & Me” program tailored for infants and new mothers, which includes postpartum stretching and gentle restorative movement. Drawing from her Pilates and dance background, Jennifer creates safe, supportive pathways for mothers returning to movement after birth—a passion that has grown even more meaningful since welcoming her son, Bowen, in February 2025.

Today, Jennifer continues to grow Move It with the vision of sharing her love of dance, fitness and creative expression with people of all ages and abilities.
