Jennifer's Philosophy

Jennifer's passion has always been with movement and creating in the world of dance.  She finds the entire process of choreographing enticing; from the experimentation of ideas, creation of movement, through to seeing the final product in action. She embraces the failures, the redirection, and the successes that come from teaching her work and facilitates the building of this resilience in others. Jennifer hopes to inspire, educate and bring others together by sharing her love of dance.

Beginning her dance journey at age six, Jennifer found dancing provided an excellent mechanism for growing her confidence and motivation and is excited to share this. Dance enabled the creation of friendships, memories and challenges that have shaped who she is today.  It has been Jennifer's life-long dream to open up her own dance establishment and support others to enjoy these experiences.

Jennifer has always believed in the positive impact, strength and power that the arts give individuals in our society. The arts provide the power of a voice, the power of opportunity, and exploration of identity. She hopes through her studio she will be helping to build and influence the creative sector in the greater community.

Jennifer's Professional Bio

Jennifer is a Brisbane and Ipswich based dance artist, with experience teaching, studio directing and choreographing in the industry since 2015. She has developed herself as a teaching artist through her work at private dance studios, working as a syllabus teacher (Comdance Syllabus) in tap and jazz, holding teaching certificates for both these styles. She has successfully worked with preparing students for their syllabus exams, and in 2019 and 2020, 95% of her students received Honours and Honour Plus results.

Jennifer is experienced in teaching routines for troupes and competition, in private practice and within school environments for tap jazz and contemporary styles. Notably, in 2019 she assisted with the establishment of introductory level dance troupes for schools (Ipswich) to accommodate for the growth of the extra- curricular dance programs.

In 2018, Jennifer graduated university with a Bachelor of Creative Industries, with a dance major and entertainment and entrepreneurship minors. After graduating, she worked with a multicultural arts organisation with regional arts development and was able to develop her understanding and practice in arts business, community arts and regional development.

Jennifer's practice with movement extends to a training background of physical theatre, where she undertook an internship with Brisbane company Zen Zen Zo in 2014. She has trained and performed with physical theatre companies in Australia and Japan, specialising in the Suzuki method of training and Butoh dance theatre. She has utilised these skills in school workshops for physical theatre fundamentals.

After falling in love with Pilates and fitness, Jennifer has completed her teacher training course for Barre Pilates and Mat Pilates. She is confident in the results and benefits of Barre and Pilates fitness and hopes to share this passion through her practice.

Jennifer is now ready to embark on her new journey, establishing her own dance business, where she hopes to share her experience and love for dance, fitness and the arts to a greater audience.
